KFC - Korean Fried Cauliflower

Thank you all for the positive feedback on my Instagram, so here I am super excited to share this recipe with all of you.
Pre-pescatarian I was a fried chicken girl, so after breaking up with chicken, I had to come up with an alternative. I've seen many variations of these cauliflower wings all over the internet, and I just had to give this a try and make my own KFC (Korean Fried Cauliflower).
I will share the sauce that I made for this recipe, but honestly, you can use whatever flavors you want. I've made these cauliflower wings before and used a store-bought panda express orange chicken sauce because I craved their orange chicken.
Let's get to it...
What you'll need...
1 cauliflower head
-(cut into florets, wash and pat dry)
-(beaten in a bowl)
1/2 cup regular flour
1/2 cup wheat flour
-(mix both flours in a bowl or in a medium-sized zip lock bag)
2-3 TBSP minced roasted garlic (or plain garlic)
2 TSP grated ginger
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 TBSP rice vinegar
1/2 tsp brown sugar
2-3 TBSP honey
Salt and Pepper (1-2 dashes)
(in a saucepan combine all and cook in low-medium heat)
1 TSP cornstarch dissolved in 1 TSP cold water (to thicken the sauce)
(remove from heat and set aside)
Coat the florets with the egg mixture (4-6 pieces at a time)
Toss the florets in the flour mixture (make sure they are evenly coated and THINLY coated, shake off excessive coating).
Repeats above steps until all florets are egged and thinly coated for air frying.
I have not tried deep frying these, so I'll try that method next time and share the cooking time.
Do not overcrowd the air fryer, you can do 2 batches or even 3 depending on how hot your air fryer gets.
Air fry for 12 minutes (380 degrees, this will depend on your air fryer, my first attempt at 400 degrees was a little overdone).
After 12 minutes, remove and shake off excess flour, turn the cauliflowers over.
Place them back in the air fryer and finish cooking for 10-15 minutes.
Toss the crispy cauliflower into the sauce and evenly coat them.
Serve over rice or salad, the choice is yours. Enjoy!
